Sustainable 3D Printing, Made Practical
At Printed Cosmos, we believe great design, responsible manufacturing, and sustainability should go hand in hand.
We’re a small, independent 3D printing company focused on creating useful products and providing small-batch manufacturing with a lighter environmental footprint. Whenever the application allows, we prioritize recycled, biodegradable, renewable, and other lower-impact materials—and we produce on demand to avoid unnecessary inventory and waste.
Sustainability is our starting point, but every project has different requirements. For custom and small-batch production, we can also print with engineering materials when a part requires greater heat resistance, strength, weather resistance, or other specialized properties. Our goal is to choose the most sustainable material that still meets the needs of the application.
Whether you need a prototype, a short production run, custom parts, or additional manufacturing capacity for your Etsy or Shopify store, we can help bring your project to life.
🌿 Materials With a Smaller Footprint
For our own products—and whenever practical for customer projects—we favor materials that reduce dependence on virgin petroleum-based plastics or offer a better end-of-life option.
Some of the materials we work with include:
- PHA – A bio-based material designed to biodegrade under a much wider range of environmental conditions than conventional plastics and an excellent option for many everyday products.
- Recycled PETG – Strong, durable, and well suited to functional parts while giving existing plastic material another useful life.
- Recycled PLA – A material made using recycled PLA feedstock, combining the ease and versatility of PLA with reduced demand for new material.
We’re continually testing new recycled, bio-based, and lower-impact materials to expand the range of applications that can be produced more sustainably.
For applications where these materials aren’t suitable, we can also work with conventional and engineering-grade polymers such as PETG, ASA, TPU, polycarbonate, and fiber-reinforced materials. Material selection is based on the mechanical, thermal, environmental, and aesthetic requirements of the project.
🛠️ What We Make
Our own product line ranges from decorative and educational pieces to practical household tools and accessories. We focus on products that are useful, distinctive, and designed to take advantage of what additive manufacturing does best.
We also provide small-batch 3D printing and production services for makers, designers, small businesses, and online shops. 3D printing is particularly well suited to short production runs, custom variations, and products that don’t justify the tooling and inventory required by traditional mass manufacturing.
♻️ Less Waste by Design
Sustainability is about more than the type of plastic going into the printer.
Our products are produced primarily on demand, allowing us to manufacture what is actually needed rather than maintaining large inventories that may eventually become waste. Additive manufacturing also allows material to be placed only where it is needed, and we continually look for ways to reduce failed prints, unnecessary supports, packaging, and material consumption.
We ship our products in plastic-free, recyclable packaging whenever possible—because responsible manufacturing shouldn’t end when the print leaves the machine.
